John Hardy - BILLY
John Hardy is an Associate Artist with The Barter Theatre, and he has been working around the country as a playwright, actor, director for over thirty years. Over the course of his career Hardy has directed over one hundred professional productions including Macbeth, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Romeo and Juliet, Henry V, Julius Caesar, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Tartuffe, Man of LaMancha, and others. As an actor John has played many of the great roles including Hamlet, MacBeth, Tom Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie, Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Teach in American Buffalo, and many others. Hardy has recently returned from a national tour, playing George in Of Mice and Men. As a playwright he has had over forty productions of fifteen plays produced across the country and overseas.
Hardy has also been working with Duke City Repertory Theatre since their first season where he played John in Oleanna and directed his adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew. For their second season he directed his adaptation of Oedipus the King, and most recently, Hardy performed his one-man production of A Christmas Carol and directed Poe. Hardy recently received the Sara Spencer Award, for lifetime achievement, from the Southeastern Theatre Conference. He holds an MFA from the University of Alabama and a PhD from Texas Tech University. << BACK TO "CAST" |
